Your Defense

Work the rods for 15 seconds. Then shoot against it.

Throw it out?

Both takes go.

Delete this defense?

It’s only on this phone, so it’s gone for good.

What the settings do

Defenses

The defenses you’ve made, saved on this phone. Turn on more than one to mix them: each rep plays one at random, so you don’t know which is coming. Each runs exactly 15 seconds, the time you get on the 3-bar.

Recording

One man at a time. The goalie first: hold the rod, and after Ready and Begin he follows your finger for 15 seconds. Lift and he holds where he is. Then the 2-bar, while your goalie plays. Redo either one until it looks like the guy you’re copying.

Reps

How many reps in a set: 10, 25 or 50. Each rep runs Ball in position, Ready, Begin, then the drill. The screen stays awake while it plays.

Table

The table you play on. Tables aren’t quite the same size: the men’s feet, the ball and the goal differ by a few millimetres, so the room a ball has to split the defense changes a little. The goal always fills the screen; the ball and the men are drawn to that table’s sizes.

An estimate is a size the maker doesn’t publish: the norm for tournament tables.

    Sound

Speaks the cues and the answer out loud in your phone’s voice, so your eyes can stay on the table. On an iPhone, turning it on wakes the voice.

    Full screen

⛶ fills the screen with the goal. Prop the phone sideways above the goal, and ✕ to come back.
