SMS Messaging & Opt-In

Foos App (“we”) sends a small number of transactional text messages to help foosball players join the app and claim a guest name after a tournament organizer adds them. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS blasts.

Who receives messages

Only people whose mobile number is entered by a tournament or club administrator who already uses Foos App. Typical case: a guest player at a club DYP or tournament who does not yet have an account.

How opt-in works (written consent)

Consent is collected in person at the venue, then recorded in the app:

The guest gives their mobile number to the organizer (verbally or on a sign-in sheet).
The organizer enters that number in Foos App when adding the guest to a tournament.
Before sending, the organizer must check a box confirming: “I have this person’s permission to send them one text inviting them to Foos App.”
The organizer taps Send Text Invite (or dismisses — the guest can still play without a text).

This is not cold outreach: the guest is already participating in that night’s event, and only one invite message is sent unless they later sign up and opt into other notifications in the app.

Example: “Alex — you were just added as a player at Main Street Foos. FOOS APP is where local foos tracks tournaments, partners & stats. Claim “Alex” in about 30 seconds (free): https://foos-app.com/claim/… Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.”

Keywords & help

STOP — Recipient can reply STOP to opt out of further messages from this number.
HELP — Recipient can reply HELP for support; we respond with a short pointer to foos-app.com and support contact.

Message frequency

Guest invite: typically one message per invite. Optional follow-up only if the guest was added again later and our system has not messaged them within the prior 7 days (organizer-initiated, same consent rules).
